JACOB H. CARRUTHERS FOR INNER CITY STUDIES
Daniel Hammond
Channelling the spirit of Marvin, the dedication of Stevie, and the vocal splendor of Luther...Daniel Hammond has made a huge impact in so little time on the thriving Chicago Soul music scene. Introduced to the arts at a young age...Daniel is no stranger to hard work, and the drive it takes to be a musician. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago was tough but it didnt get in the way of his dream. He struggled to find who was and when he found that man...he knew what he had to do. Now preparing to release his Debut album entitled "A Better Way" Daniel wants to show and share his world with whomever is willing to listen.
Daniel was born into a middle class family with high class aspirations. He learned piano at a young age and began to hone his skills by ear. He studied artists who paved the way for him. Artists such as Nat King Cole, Tina Turner, James Ingram, Freddie Jackson,Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson,Jimi Hendrix, and the Late great Luther Vandross. Vandross was a huge staple in Daniel's musical growth. By the time he was in College he was dubbed the name "Lil Luther" among his peers due to his remarable baritone vocal. Danielhas now groomed himself as not only one of Chicago's premier vocalist and performers, but he is now solidifiyng himself as a much needed breathe of fresh air for soul music worldwide.
