JACOB H. CARRUTHERS FOR INNER CITY STUDIES
Pharoah
Spoken word artist Pharaoh started writing poetry at 16, but didn't take it seriously until the age of 21.
As his love for words grew, so did his desire to perform which led him to join EarCandy Entertainment at the South Side Community Art Center in 2003. He worked with Fyremouff and DJ Jazznosis in 2007 to form a non-profit art initiative called Mic C.R.A.W.L. (Creatively Respecting All Walks of Life), hosting open mics to benefit local organizations that assist domestic violence survivors. The collaborative also provided him the opportunity to host open mics at Starbucks. Pharaoh joined P. O. E. T.a spoken word collectivein 2010 and continues to host and perform at many local venues and community service events. His mission is to use his gift that God gave him to change lives & the community-at-large.
