JACOB H. CARRUTHERS FOR INNER CITY STUDIES

Teela

In the New Jack age of music, where blue-jean sporting divas of mucho brass and limited class are becoming the rule rather than the exception, the tantalizing tempestuous style and grace of the very tasteful temptress Teela is indeed a breath of fresh air.

This teasingly terrific talent has performed for Michael Jordan, Bernie Mac, and Ramsey Lewis. And has performed at Navy Pier. The Park West, Harrah's and Horseshoe Casinos, The China Club, Pops for Champagne, and has shared the stage with Koko Taylor, Clifton Davis, Jerry Butler, Freda Payne, and the late Nell Carter. She has performed at numerous country clubs and hotels in and around the Chicago land area and has been lead vocalist for such groups as the Gentlemen of Leisure, The associates, The Masheen Company, and Malik's Ultimate Band. Teela totally turned our crowds in Europe when she toured with Bruce Thompson and the Black Roses Gospel Revue. Teela is also a member of the Chicago Mass Choir.
With a style influenced by such musical greats as Sarah Vaughn, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, and Aretha Franklin, her stage performances are a unique mixture of Jazz, Funk, R&B, and her personal favorite (and her specialty), hot, tempting, torrid love ballads.

Teela's wonderful ascendance on the music scene can be summed up very easily with the
words...
